![]() ![]() I generally dislike soundtracks in games opting to mute them when I can but this game feels so alive, I can’t do it. And the initial game hit every mark I had hoped. I’ve been hyped about the potential for aoe4 since before it was even announced, I had no doubt that it would eventually come out. Things like Phalanx, shattering projectiles, clad armor, and chivalry are additional unique techs within the production buildings. Then there's things like HoW/HoL that are completely separate techs and buildings. In some cases the unique unit takes the place of a standard unit, like longbows in place of archers and Palace guards in place of MAA or they are additional like camel riders. Blacksmith is the same, and there's two techs swapped in the university.Īnd for AoE4 the uniqueness by addition is both with techs and and units. Siege Workshop is the biggest difference where Britons don't get access to siege rams, bit otherwise they all get the same stuff. Stable is also identical, just no bloodlines for the Britons. Archery range is identical, but no thumb rings for the Britons and it seems wrong that China doesn't get hand cannoneers IMO. Barracks are identical, other than China not getting access to the supplies research. I mean like there's a "full" tech tree where in AoE2 they just removed parts of it from certain civs.įor example, I just compared Britons to Chinese from AoE2 since these two civs are both in AoE4. To me the AoE2 tech tree seems to be uniqueness by subtraction where AoE4 is uniqueness by addition. One of the wiki pages listed 11 but looking at the actual count there were 13 in Age of Kings. ![]()
